PURPOSE

Our Journey to Handmade Soap and Non-Toxic Living

Our story began with a mother’s unwavering determination to create a healthier world for her family. Kim’s family and friends often said there wasn’t a mountain she couldn’t move—and they were right. On her journey to motherhood, Kim discovered just how many toxins surrounded us in everyday products. Determined to shield her baby’s delicate skin from harmful chemicals, she began crafting non-toxic products at home. What started as a personal mission soon grew into a community movement. Friends and family, inspired by Kim’s dedication, reached out for guidance on eliminating toxins from their lives and requested her products. And so, Suds & Buds was born—a labor of love rooted in the desire to share the benefits of non-toxic living through carefully crafted handmade soaps and skincare.

Why Handmade Soaps Crafted in Small Batches?

At Suds & Buds, we believe in the power of small-batch craftsmanship. Each handmade soap we create is infused with care, ensuring the highest quality and cleanest ingredients. Unlike mass-produced products, our handmade soaps are free from harmful chemicals like phthalates, parabens, and carcinogens such as Polysorbate 80. Your skin, the body’s largest organ, absorbs up to 60% of what you apply to it. That’s why we carefully source non-toxic, responsibly harvested ingredients to create soaps and skincare that nurture rather than harm. Kim’s commitment to safe, natural products means you can trust our handmade soaps to support your well-being and that of your family.

Why Apothecary?

Kim is a member of the Handcrafted Soap and Cosmetic Guild (HSCG). Her desire for reducing non-toxic chemicals and living more naturally has also led her to reduce her use of pharmaceuticals, instead opting for more traditional herbs and homeopathic remedies. She has taken, and continues to take, extensive courses in holistic nutrition and herbology. Kim believes that our bodies function as interconnected systems, and that we should treat the whole body rather than just targeting specific illnesses or symptoms. This holistic approach supports an individual’s optimal health, addressing the mind, body, and spirit as a unified whole. Her passion for natural treatments has allowed her to successfully use herbs to stop heartburn, craft tinctures for gallstones, and create a pain salve that her children rely on for every bump, scrape, and bruise they get from simply being kids. While Kim recognizes that there is a time and place for pharmaceuticals, and that medical advice should come from qualified professionals, she chooses to rely on herbs, tinctures, salves, herbal capsules, and nutrition for non-emergency situations and in daily life.
